I am hoping someone could help clarifying a general question about outboards for me. My problem is that i have a broken ignition coil assembly and have ordered a new part, but after ordering, the part was automatically superseded by another similar coil assembly, but this time with the words "resistor type" in the parts number. The coil is an f6t530 and does anybody know if this device is a "resistor type" coil or not? And could someone please explain what resistance in the ignition system does and what the alternatives are when the resistance is elsewhere than in the ignition coil?

It has to do with high frequency. The replacement coil will work with your motor.Regards
