Poor little 3.5hp.....

So I have a 2006 3.5hp that dies out on me when I give it 1/2-full throttle. The carb has been rebuilt but there is an obvious problem. It runs fine at low speeds and even when it dies out, it starts back up quickly and continues to run well....until I raise the RPMs and it dies. It seems like a fuel deprivation issue but Im not sure. Any thoughts as to a remedy?

Also, there is not a fuel filter on this motor. Can I install an in line filter without effecting the performance?

Try removing your fuel cap. The vent in the on board fuel tank maybe malfunctioning. Most fuel onboard fuel tanks have a built in screen, I do not recommend a fuel filter as it may restrict fuel flow too much.
