auto start assembly

What is the function of the autostart assembly, and how do i test it? It is a solenoid. Merc 50 4 cycle will not idle, but will fun fast. Traced it to this puppy.

Not sure which model motor you have but the electric choke has 12 volts between two wires when activate choke at key switch.
The models with the enrichener valve then start with cleaning carbs and make sure passages to enrichener are open, remove enrichener and measure how far piston is extended, connect wires to a 12 volt battery for 5 minutes, the piston should retract to meet specified amount listed in service manual.
