Fuel over flow?

hi all,

I have a 1975 65hp mercury "blue stripping" ... that leaks from the back of the carburetor, out of what looks to be like a needle. And also as I choke it the butterflies don't close, "is this typical"?

No neither is typical. Carbs need to be repaired and choke solenoid or linkage is not working properly.
