  • 1988 175 HP Merc VRO Wiring Question

    Hi all,
I am very new to this site and I was wondering if someone could help me out on specific VRO wiring placement for 2 wires on the Warning Module assembly? I have the actual Merc manual but, its a little unclear. Can anyone tell me where the the green where from the module goes? The manual says to the switch box. Does it matter which pole on the switchbox or either switchbox, because there is two? the other wire is the purple wire? The manual says to 12 volt Power supply? I am assuming that would be a constant 12 volt power supply ...meaning when the switch is turned on there is power? If anyone can show me where these 2 wires are run on there motor with a pic or 2 or give me some details in writing it would be greatly appreciated? The system was removed from my motor and I am replacing the warning module system. In advance....Thank you

The green wire connects bottom terminal on switch box witha green wire already on it. The white/black wire connects upper left terminal of switch box with a white/black wire on it.

      Thank you

Thanks for the respsonse to my question, very much appreciated. Ok got where the green wire goes but, you confused me about the black/white wire? My module does not have a black/white wire...it is purple and says connect to 12v power supply? I do have a black/white wire on my switchbox though. Does the purple wire go there?

The colors may be different for your model. Mercury is known for changing wire colors.
