  • 40 HS EFI 4 Stroke Bearings???

Hey all, I have a 2004 40hp 4stk EFI that I need rod and main bearings for. They are color coded and i'm assuming one stands for standard and the other two for oversized. I ordered a new crankshaft from here so I'm assuming I need standard. No one I talk to can seem to give me a definite answer to which crank and rod bearings I need to go with it (I even called mercury parts).

Can anyone tell me the ones that I need or know the mystery behind the color codes?

Or shoot, even the sizes, I can mic the crank.

After spending more time on the phone and on the net than working on this thing I appreciate any help or advise that’s given.

The color code break down is located in the service manual. On the lower half of the split case (right side) there are letters (A,B,C) A = blue, B= black, C= brown. Each color has to correspond with the cylinder location indicated.

Thank you very much! It appears I have CCCCB and will be ordering them here shortly.

One last thing if you don't mind. Could you tell me the torque for the connecting rod bolts?

Another question if you don't mind.

What's the torque for the head bolts?

Promise I'll leave you alone after this one.

          Thanks
