I have this 60HP 2-stroke which had been standing for a while.I cleaned carbs and replaced impeller.Tried to start it but there was no spark.(checked with timing light)Replaced CDI with a new aftermarket part from CDI Electronics.I now had spark with the plugs out but not when theyr'e in.Replaced the stator with 2nd hand one.Now it sparks with plugs in,but only for a few seconds then no spark.Replaced trigger and now I had good spark but no start.Disconnected throttle cable and advanced the trigger manually. It started up and runs at high RPM but if you bring it back to the idling mark it would die.Could it be that the stator orientation is not right?

Sounds like your carburetor may not be adjusted properly. Verify the carburetors are all synced and propperly adjusted.Regards

The butterflies should be slightly open when idling. They should be completely closed when syncronizing, however you need to adjust (idle screw) them to be open when idling. You want to idle around 1000 RPM's.Last edited by boats.net; 03-16-2012, 03:47 PM.Regards

Got that! Thanks did that! Cured the proplem! Starts only with warm-up lever open, but when lever returned will idle at 1000rpm and ecselelerate and run wot with no problems.Just wont start without warm-up lever being used. Hot or cold. Thanks for input.Pieter.

Sounds like you may need to change the idle/air adjustment needles.Regards
