I have a 1997 Merc 50hp on the back of my boat. I came across a 2000 Merc 60hp. The 60hp was flooded for about 4 hours in salt water then was sprayed down with WD-40 outside and inside. The motor runs great and looks like it was never under water on the engine stand. I am kind of nervous to put the 60hp on the back of my boat because of reliability reasons. The two motors look identical. I was wondering what the difference was between them. It looks to me that the carbs are the only difference in the repair manual that I have. Will swapping the carbs make my 50hp to a 60hp? If not, what needs to be done?
