2001 125 salwater series Tach problem

My Tach is not working, havent put the boat in water yet , but ran on water hose, in neutral. Tach is not moving, anyone know where to start, checking..

Charging circuit- Rectifer---

There is usually a roughly a 2 X 2 inch black module (puck) mounted on the starboard side of the (Mid Section) power head.
You can tell this by the wires coming down from the Stator (Under Flywheel) , There is usually a Grey wire-lead coming from this module. This should be a Tach output.
Be careful when engine is running this is a charging (Electric) circuit to charge on board starter battery.
Put a external charger on the battery and see if the battery has been charging properly,, if not,, more than likely the Tach stops working side of the rectifier is malfunctioned..
