  • voltage regulator 2004 Mecury 90HP OB

I Ordered part No. 883072 for my Mercury OB as the regulator was faulty. The part received had 883072T stamped on the Box, but inside the Number on the new regulator was 8M0006034 and the wire color sequence is not the same as viewed from the bottom.

    Old - 883072 is grey-yellow-red-red-black-yellow
    New- 8M0006034 is grey-red-yellow-red-black-yellow

Do I just connect then new regulator in the same sequence as the old ignoring the wire color change, ie - connect red to yellow and yellow to red, or do I have to ignore sequence and connect same color wires to each other thus throwing sequence off. I am assuming connect to same color harness wires, but thought I would just check.

    Thanks for your assistance.

      serial No.

      My serial No is OT807687

I used this to order the replacement part 883072T . The number marked on the old regulator was 883072-0763. The number on the part supplied by Boats.net was 8M0006034-1280, although the box was marked 883072T, so I do not know if the part supplied is right due to the different wire color sequence, although the number of wires are the same.

      Hope this helps

      Thanks

Part # on Merc parts is usually not the same as on the box.

          Wire connections

I assume then the Merc has changed the identification markings on the actual VR from 883072 to 8M0006034 but are marketing the part under the original part No.883072.

Maybe I am just overthinking this, and that my assumption to ignore sequence of wires and just connect same color wires to each other is correct?.

Does anyone have any comment on the wire sequence, as they are not the same on new part compared to old.

          Thanks

              Salutation

              Thank you for your confirmation.

Have now run engine and all seems to be OK with charging system and tacho.

Not sure what event damaged the VR, but I also had to change the battery, so maybe a damaged cell.

              Again thanks for your feedback
