  • 150 Mercury prop shaft

Ok well me and a buddy was going out fishing the other day and on the way to the fishing hole we hit something under the water... Busted my prop to hell.. I thought that is all it did.. We checked it out and idled up a few feet to our fishing spot.. fished all day.. and the we limped it to the trailer..

So i start to switch it over to my old prop and notice the shaft is bent... I just dropped every extra penny i have into overhauling the trailer..

So it looks like i need a new lower unit.. My skeg has been broke off since i got the boat so i dont want to put too much money into this lower unit..

But if i can find a used cheap prop shaft.. How hard is it to change..I know i would need atleast new seals.. maybe bearings.. But how big of a job is this todo..

    Thanks!!

BTW.. its a 1984 Mercury 150 black max

Depending on where you are some prop shops can straighten the shaft without disassembly of your lower.
