I have a 2004 90 hp mercury 2 stroke (3cyl.) that blew a cdm module. I replaced the module (with a cdi brand because I could get it from a local dealer imediately) and it blew it within 4 hrs. runtime. I then replaced the stator and trigger assemblies and the cdm module again. The cdm module that blew was cyl. #2 both times. I then moved the original mercury cdm modules to cylinders 2,3 and put the new cdi brand module on cylinder #1 and it blew the cdi brand module again. I have ordered 3 mercury cdm modules but was just curious if anyone has ever ran into this before. I am hoping that nothing else is wrong and the bad cdi modules is not just a fluke.
